New York City-based trombonist Michael Boscarino is a native of the Pittsburgh suburb of Cranberry Township, Pennsylvania. He began his musical studies at age 7 on the piano. At age 11, he began playing the trombone as advised by his grandfather, Charles Lamendola and hasn’t looked back since. Michael holds a Bachelor of Music degree from Youngstown State University and a Master of Music degree from Manhattan School of Music. His trombone teachers include Susan Van Arsdale, Michael Lamendola, Robert Matchett Jr., Robert Matchett III, Michael Crist, Paul McKee, and Steve Turre.


While attending Youngstown State University, Michael was active on the Pittsburgh, Cleveland, and Youngstown freelance scenes. His performance credits in these areas include: The Cleveland Jazz Orchestra, The Balcony Big Band, Sabor Latino, Azucar, and the Youngstown Symphony Orchestra. Also during his tenure at YSU, Michael kept busy during the summer breaks playing lead trombone in the 2002 Disneyland® All-American College Band and attending the 2003 Henry Mancini Institute at UCLA on a full scholarship.


Michael moved to New York City in August 2004 to further his studies at Manhattan School of Music and simultaneously launch his career as a freelance artist. He now enjoys performing in a wide variety of musical settings. Boscarino is a member of the legendary horn-driven Jazz/Rock band, Blood, Sweat & Tears, Max Weinberg Orchestra, Tedd Firth Big Band, the Awakening Orchestra and The Rhythm Shop. From 2007 to 2013, Michael was the lead trombonist/featured soloist with the Tommy Dorsey Orchestra. He later spent a year and a half performing with Beginnings: A Tribute to the Music of Chicago (2015-2017). More recently, Michael performed all over North America as a member of Don Henley's band (December 2016-June 2017) which segued into multiple tours with The Eagles (July 2017-August 2021). He can be seen and heard on The Eagles' 2020 release, Live From The Forum MMXVIII.


Michael is in the studio frequently for recording projects and jingle work. His tenor & bass trombone work can be heard on commercials for Degree Deodorant, The Breeders’ Cup 2012, Olive Garden, Comcast Xfinity NCAA Football, Charles Schwab, Wrigley’s Extra Dessert Delights Gum, Ragu, Sears, and Commit NiQuitin Minis. Boscarino has contributed to pre-recorded theme music used at the Tokyo Disney Resort® as well as cabaret show music for Celestina Warbeck and the Banshees at the Wizarding World of Harry Potter at the Universal Orlando Resort™. Furthermore, Michael played on much of the pre-recorded music used on the NBC broadcast of the 88th Annual Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade (2014). Elsewhere on television, Michael was the trombonist on the PBS Thirteen TV Special, Great Performances-Chita Rivera: A Lot of Livin’ To Do and performed “Happy Holidays” with Martina McBride in December 2018 on Live with Kelly and Ryan (ABC). In October 2023, Michael began appearing frequently on The Kelly Clarkson Show (NBC), performing with Kelly and her band, Y'all. He also performed with Kelly Clarkson and Y'all on the NBC TV special, "Christmas in Rockefeller Center." Additionally, Boscarino can be heard on several albums as a sideman (please see Discography page).

In September 2013, Michael was appointed to his first full-time position on Broadway as trombonist in the musical, A Night with Janis Joplin. He was featured in segments done on the show by CBS News Sunday Morning, Katie Couric's talk show, Katie, ABC World News and The Wendy Williams Show. In March 2017, Michael was appointed to his second full-time position on Broadway, playing Trombone 1/Euphonium in the musical, Bandstand. In May 2023, Boscarino played 1st Trombone in the New York City Center Encores! production of OLIVER! Elsewhere on the Broadway scene, he has played 19 other shows to date as well as productions at The Public Theater and Paper Mill Playhouse as a substitute.


In New York, Michael has performed at such venues as: Apollo Theater, Avery Fisher Hall, Beacon Theatre, Blue Note, Birdland, Carnegie Hall, Citi Field, Copacabana, Iridium Jazz Club, Jazz at Lincoln Center, The Jazz Gallery, Madison Square Garden, and The Rainbow Room. He has also performed at major venues and festivals across the United States and abroad including: Austin City Limits Live at The Moody Theater, Bethel Woods Center for the Arts, Busch Gardens Tampa Bay, Dodger Stadium, EPCOT®, The Forum, Grand Ole Opry, PPG Paints Arena, SeaWorld Orlando, Yoshi’s San Francisco, AnJazz Hamar Jazz Festival (Norway), BluesFest London (England), Bodø Jazz Open (Norway), Detroit Jazz Festival, Imatra Big Band Festival (Finland), Moldejazz (Norway), Montreal Jazz Festival (Canada), Northern Lights Festival (Norway), Trondheim Jazzfest (Norway), Verona Jazz Festival (Italy), and the Zürich Jazznojazz Festival (Switzerland).

Throughout his musical career, Michael has had the great fortune of performing with such renowned artists as: Kelly Clarkson, Vince Gill, Rita Ora, Sheila E., Incognito, Frankie Valli, Bruce Springsteen, Regis and Joy Philbin, Carole King, Aloe Blacc, Natalie Cole, Elvis Costello, Maysa Leak, Ledisi, Fito Páez, Buddy Morrow, Michael Feinstein, Lynn Roberts, Ann Hampton Calloway, Jane Monheit, Patti Austin, Freddy Cole, Freda Payne, Marilyn Maye, Tom Kubis, Michel Legrand, Toshiko Akiyoshi, Lew Tabackin, Candido Camero, Bob Anderson, American Dance Machine for the 21st Century, Artie Shaw Orchestra, Birdland Big Band, Harry James Orchestra, Gary Morgan & PanAmericana!, and the Bobby Sanabria Multiverse Big Band.
